TVS Motor has introduced a new electric vehicle (EV) called the X EV in Bengaluru, and it costs around INR 2.50 lakh. They are targeting young people from the generation called Gen-Z, both in India and around the world. TVS sees the X EV as a key part of its plan to sell more high-quality products in India and other countries. They want to become a big global company in the field of mobility, which means vehicles that help people move around.

TVS has plans to introduce several more EVs in the next year and a half. Right now, about 20% of the scooters TVS sells are electric. They believe that this number will become twice as big in just the next two years.

In Dubai, TVS Motor Company has released a new electric vehicle (EV) called X. This is a special kind of EV that’s a mix between an electric scooter and a motorcycle. It costs INR 2,49,990 in Bengaluru, without the FAME subsidy. The X EV is different because it has two sets of batteries, and together they can store 4.44 kilowatt-hours of energy. This helps the vehicle run. TVS had earlier introduced an electric scooter named iQube in 2020.

TVS wants to sell the X vehicle in other countries like the Middle East, Europe, Latin America, and South-East Asia. They plan to start sending these vehicles to these places in the next business year. TVS created the X using a brand-new platform called ‘Xleton’ right from the start.

They made the electric motor, the system that manages the batteries (Battery Management System or BMS), the entertainment system, and the software all by themselves. They spent INR 250 crore on this project and are thinking of making nearly 100 of these new EVs every day at their factory in Chennai.

The electric two-wheeler will have a special charger called the Smart X Home rapid charger. This charger can fill up the battery from 0 to 50% in just 50 minutes. There’s also an extra option to add a faster charger, which is a 3 kW fast charger. If you want to use a portable charger, it can charge the battery from 0 to 80% in around 4 hours and 30 minutes. This portable charger has a power of 950 watts.

You can now reserve your new X vehicle on the company’s website. They will start delivering the vehicles in November, starting from Bengaluru. After that, they will deliver to 14 more cities in different phases. By the fourth quarter of this year, you’ll be able to get the vehicle in the top 15 cities.

In the coming month, TVS is getting ready to release another electric vehicle (EV), which is likely to be an upgraded version of the iQube scooter. TVS wants to grow into a big company that provides vehicles for moving around. Venu, the Managing Director, mentioned that within the next year and a half, they plan to bring out a full range of EVs.

This includes various types of products like electric cargo vehicles with three wheels, new versions of the iQube scooter, electric bicycles, and even more things beyond that.

Right now, out of all the scooters we sell, 20% are electric. We believe this number will become twice as big in the next two years. That’s why we’re putting a lot of money into making more electric vehicles, as we see a big chance for growth in this area,” he explained.

However, even though we’re focusing more on electric vehicles, we’re still seeing a steady demand for regular petrol-powered scooters. We think this demand will keep growing, along with the popularity of electric vehicles.

TVS Motor Expands with Global Partnerships and Focuses on Premium Vehicles

TVS is confident about the increasing interest in fancy features in India, and they believe that X will be at the forefront of this growth plan. The new electric vehicle (EV) doesn’t need a key to start and has three different ways to ride – Xtealth, Xtride, and Xonic – all included.

It also has a special kind of braking system (called 10th generation ABS) just for the front wheel. Some extra cool things it has are cruise control to help maintain speed, a helper for going in reverse, and SmartConnect features. It can even stream live videos, let you play games on it, share where you are in real-time, and warn you if someone tries to take it away.

As part of its plan to make more high-quality products, the company behind Apache motorcycles has been focusing on making its partnership with BMW Motorrad even stronger. They have also invested money in a startup called Ultraviolette that makes electric motorcycles.

To become more known around the world, the company bought a Swiss e-bike maker called EGO Movement and a British motorcycle maker called Norton. Norton is famous for its classic models and fancy electric motorcycles.
