Ahead of his final Davis Cup appearance in Lucknow over the weekend, Rohan Bopanna expressed his emotions about the significant moment in his career. At 43 years old, this marked the end of a remarkable 21-year journey in Davis Cup. Bopanna, who recently achieved the distinction of being the oldest player to reach a Grand Slam final, acknowledged the weight of this concluding chapter and affirmed his determination to give his best in this farewell match.

In addition to the triumphant partnership of Bopanna and Bhambri, the Indian team faced challenges as Sasikumar Mukund had to retire during his match against Yassine Dlimi due to cramps exacerbated by the humid conditions in Lucknow. Before Sumit Nagal’s impressive victory over Adam Moundir, Morocco had initially taken a 1-0 lead in the Davis Cup tie. Nagal’s 6-3, 6-3 win helped India level the score, setting the stage for a fiercely competitive contest.

With Bopanna’s crucial victory, India is now in a favorable position, requiring only one win out of the remaining two games to secure victory in the Davis Cup tie against Morocco. The upcoming reverse singles ties will feature Sumit Nagal taking on Yassine Dilmi, while Sasikumar Mukund will face Adam Moundir. India, having been relegated to World Cup Group 2, their lowest ranking since the Davis Cup format change in 2019, has the opportunity to progress to the knockout rounds if they secure a win against Morocco.
