Jeep Launches Diesel Automatic Variant of Compass 2WD at Rs 23.99 Lakh

Jeep has introduced a new variant of the Compass 2WD in India, featuring a diesel engine paired with an automatic transmission. Priced at Rs 23.99 lakh (ex-showroom), this addition to the Compass lineup aims to provide customers with more choice, especially those seeking the convenience of an automatic gearbox in a diesel-powered SUV.

Jeep has introduced the Compass 2WD diesel variant with an automatic transmission, priced at Rs 23.99 lakh. Alongside this new powertrain option, Jeep has given the Compass lineup a refresh with a new grille design and updated alloy wheels. The Compass range now includes five trims: Sport, Longitude, Longitude+, Limited, and Model S.

The Sport trim is the entry-level model and is available only with the diesel-manual powertrain, which has also seen a price reduction to Rs 20.49 lakh. The new Longitude trim is equipped with a manual and a 9-speed automatic gearbox, becoming the new entry point for the Compass automatic range. The diesel automatic variant claims a fuel efficiency of 16.2 kmpl.

The updated Longitude+ trim features a panoramic sunroof and a wireless charger, in addition to the features available on the Longitude trim. The Jeep Compass Limited comes with a new Black Shark edition, boasting an all-black interior, black alloy wheels, and ‘Ignite Red’ highlights throughout the SUV.

The top-tier Model S is now available with the 2WD automatic powertrain, alongside the existing 4WD automatic variants. All trims feature refreshed alloy wheel designs, while the new chrome grille is exclusive to the Limited and Model S trims.

Jeep has also introduced the Meridian Overland Edition, featuring a new grille and alloy wheel design, as well as a distinctive copper-based interior color theme.

Jeep has expanded its Compass lineup by introducing automatic transmission options for 2WD variants. Previously, the automatic gearbox was exclusively available with the 4×4 variants. This move is aimed at catering to customers who desire the convenience of an automatic gearbox without the need for 4×4 capabilities.

Under the hood, the Jeep Compass comes equipped with a 2.0-liter diesel engine that generates 170 horsepower and 350 Nm of torque. In India, Jeep has opted to offer only diesel engines for the Compass lineup due to the discontinuation of the 1.4-liter turbo-petrol engine to comply with BS6 Stage II emissions norms. However, there are plans to reintroduce petrol variants in the near future.
