The film premiered with a 5 am show in Kolkata and a 6 am screening in Jaipur, witnessing a frenzy of ticket bookings. Industry experts are predicting ‘Jawan’ to surpass the opening day figures of Shah Rukh Khan’s own film, ‘Pathaan,’ with estimated earnings of approximately Rs 75 crore on the first day.

This projection includes an expected collection of Rs 60 crore to Rs 65 crore for its Hindi version and approximately Rs 10 crore to Rs 15 crore for its Tamil and Telugu dubbed versions, as suggested by film critic and trade analyst Sumit Kadel. Kadel also anticipates that the film could achieve net box office collections ranging from Rs 250 crore to Rs 300 crore, provided it receives positive word of mouth.

Trade expert Taran Adarsh shared an update on ticket sales for Thursday across national cinema chains, reporting 5,57,000 tickets sold as of 11:59 pm on Wednesday. “#Pathaan was 556,000 at 11.59 pm,” he stated.

While ‘Pathaan’ was a blockbuster, with reported worldwide earnings of Rs 1,050 crore, ‘Jawan,’ described as a high-octane thriller highlighting “the emotional journey of a man determined to rectify societal wrongs,” has the potential to surpass its predecessor.

Starring Vijay Sethupathi and Nayanthara alongside Shah Rukh Khan, the film is releasing in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu. It premieres at a time when Bollywood theatrical releases, including recent hits like “Gadar 2” and “OMG 2,” are enjoying blockbuster success.

Sanjeev Kumar Bijli, Executive Director of PVR-INOX Ltd, shared insights into the film’s pre-release ticket sales, revealing, Out of the 10 lakh capacity on opening day, we’ve sold about 25 per cent of the tickets, which is like 2.5 lakh tickets sold for Thursday across PVR INOX (screens). It is a very big number, and early estimates suggest that it can be bigger than ‘Pathaan.

He added, People are saying that this will be an opening day of Rs 65 to 70 crore, which is bigger than ‘Pathaan. The opening day figure for ‘Pathaan’ was Rs 55 crore. So hopefully, it will be bigger than ‘Pathaan.
