Israeli Strike Disrupts Services at Syrian Aleppo Airport

An Israeli attack recently damaged and disrupted operations at Aleppo Airport in Syria. The airstrike led to the suspension of services at the airport, causing significant disruption to both domestic and international flights. The incident has raised concerns about the impact of such attacks on critical infrastructure in the region.

On a late Saturday, Israel carried out an air strike on Aleppo Airport in Syria, causing significant damage and rendering the airport inoperative. The Syrian defense ministry confirmed this attack, stating that Israel launched it from the direction of the Mediterranean Sea, west of Latakia.

The strike resulted in material damage to Aleppo International Airport, making it incapable of providing its usual services. However, the Israeli military did not respond immediately to requests for comments regarding this incident.

Interestingly, Aleppo Airport had just resumed its services on a Saturday, but the recent missile attacks by Israeli forces on both Damascus Airport and Aleppo Airport had damaged their runways, forcing them out of service on the previous Thursday. As of now, Damascus Airport remains non-functional.

Experts believe these strikes on Syrian airports are intended to disrupt Iranian supply routes to Syria. Iran’s influence in the region has grown significantly since it began supporting President Bashar al-Assad during the civil war that began in 2011.
