Operating a theater in Chennai, Jaya Prada eventually faced its closure. Subsequently, the theater’s employees lodged grievances against Jaya Prada, asserting that she had neglected to remit the Employee State Insurance (ESI) funds, which had been deducted from their salaries, to the Government Insurance Corporation.

Allegedly, the Labour Government Insurance Corporation initiated legal action against Jaya Prada and her accomplices at the Egmore Magistrate Court in Chennai. It was indicated that Jaya Prada acknowledged the allegations and expressed her intention to settle the outstanding dues, alongside requesting the dismissal of the case. Nevertheless, the court declined her plea and imposed both a fine and a period of imprisonment.
