Amidst India-Bharat Debate, Akshay Kumar’s Film Title Gets Changed


In response to the ongoing discussions regarding the potential name change from India to Bharat by the Indian government, Akshay Kumar has decided to alter the title of his upcoming film. It was previously named ‘Mission Raniganj: The Great Indian Rescue,’ but it has now been changed to ‘Mission Raniganj: The Great Bharat Rescue.

Amidst the ongoing debate over the potential name change of India to Bharat, Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar has decided to rename his upcoming film. Previously titled ‘Mission Ranigan: The Great Indian Rescue,’ the film has now been retitled as ”Mission Raniganj: The Great Bharat Rescue.” This change was revealed alongside the release of the film’s first look poster.

The movie draws inspiration from a real-life incident at the “Raniganj Coalfield” and pays tribute to the heroic actions of Late Shri Jaswant Singh Gill, who led a coal mine rescue mission in Bharat. Jaswant Singh Gill played a pivotal role in successfully rescuing all the miners trapped inside a flooded coal mine in Raniganj in November 1989, marking a remarkable rescue mission in Bharat’s history against all odds.

Starring Akshay Kumar, Parineeti Chopra, Kumud Mishra, Pavan Malhotra, Ravi Kishan, Varun Badola, Dibyendu Bhattacharya, Rajesh Sharma, Virendra Saxena, Shishir Sharma, Ananth Mahadevan, Jameel Khan, Sudhir Pandey, Bachan Pachera, Mukesh Bhatt, Omkar Das Manikpuri, ‘Mission Raniganj’ is a tribute to the resilience, determination, and courage of the human spirit and engineering minds. The film also marks Tinu Suresh Desai’s next thriller after Rustom, which garnered significant critical and commercial acclaim.

The motion poster provides a glimpse into the intense rescue operation that unfolded when miners found themselves trapped beneath the 350-foot-deep coal mine. Akshay Kumar, portraying the heroic character of Late Jaswant Singh Gill, takes center stage as he leads a daring rescue operation to save the trapped miners.

The film’s teaser is scheduled to be released on September 7, with its theatrical release set for October 6, 2023.
